Chanel's Pre-Fall 2013 show yesterday, held in the courtyard of Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots; an appropriate setting for a show that paid homage to Coco Chanel's lifelong love of tweed and tartan. It was an amazing mix of Scottish traditional tartan, argyle, and fair isle, Elizabethan princess, grunge and today's street style. The styling may have been pure fantasy but many of the strongest pieces, like the voluminous white blouses and combat boots, are infinitely wearable. Great Scott, indeed.
