Great Scott

Chanel's Pre-Fall 2013 show yesterday, held in the courtyard of Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots; an appropriate setting for a show that paid homage to Coco Chanel's lifelong love of tweed and tartan. It was an amazing mix of Scottish traditional tartan, argyle, and fair isle, Elizabethan princess, grunge and today's street style. The styling may have been pure fantasy but many of the strongest pieces, like the voluminous white blouses and combat boots, are infinitely wearable. Great Scott, indeed.

Time Traveling

It has been months since my last post and there have been so many changes in my life that I don't even know where to begin. Most importantly, I moved back to my hometown, Atlanta, a few months ago and have spent my time finding and starting a new job, catching up with friends, and spoiling myself rotten by driving my car any distance that I would have had to walk in New York.

Being back in the land of traffic and bulldogs... It's been months now yet I am still appreciative of the luxuries and conveniences of my life back home. New York will forever hold a special place in my heart but Atlanta is truly my number one girl.

Sunbaths

My mom sent me this picture of my wild girl/ dog-hummingbird, Mlle Barker, taking a sunbath this morning at our lake house in North Georgia. Look how happy she is, snoozing in the sun. There is no where on this planet I would have rather spent my morning than sitting on our front porch enjoying the view, drinking coffee, and eating peaches and sausage biscuits with this little one.

I am going to my first Yankees game tonight. This girl wants her some cheesesteak and baseball.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart's Parisian couture shoot with Mario Testino is one of the most beautiful magazine features I have seen in a while. She is often criticized for her awkard, standoffish behaviour but after reading the accompanying article I respect her for owning the attitude that she displays on red carpets and in interviews. She seems so refreshing, like someone I would like to know, and though she may say she doesn't look perfect in every picture...I beg to differ.
“I have been criticized a lot for not looking perfect in every photograph. I get some serious shit about it. I’m not embarrassed about it. I’m proud of it. If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, What an actress! What a faker! That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like shit in half my photos, and I don’t give a f***. What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, ‘She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest."

Writing?

I started "writing" this blog a few weeks ago and after looking back on the posts so far, am dissapointed by the lack of actual writing taking place. While the collage-type posts are beautiful to look at easy to put together, they aren't challenging me creatively or giving me an opportunity to grow or improve my writing by putting my feelings, thoughts, and emotions out into the world. I know, as a blog reader myself, my favorite posts and blogs are those that make me feel like I am getting to know the writer, where they share their personal feelings and stories. So from here on I am going to make the effort to put myself out there, tell my friends that I am writing this, and maybe, just maybe, share the link with them.

Happy Friday from me to you.
